Design of a modular prefabricated building that can be assembled. The building is located in a generic place in Salento. The project re-proposes the traditional local building typology of the patio house, with the reinterpretation of some typical formal elements: the external staircase, the practicable flat roof, the pergola, the rainwater collection system and the vegetable garden. The introverted planimetric system offers considerable possibilities for aggregating the housing module and adapting to the site. The selected materials are Lecce stone, olive wood, ceramics.
A lot of attention was paid to social sustainability considering various possibilities for interaction between users thanks to the presence of the patio, to be dedicated to work, sports, vegetable garden, play and social relations.
The project is aimed at obtaining a high level of internal comfort through the passive operation of the building, rather than with the adoption of advanced MEP and IT systems. The main strategies adopted are: passive cooling (summer), energy gain and dehumidification (winter), natural lighting, use of eco-friendly materials.
